Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
The Earl Marshal's Court Vanbrugh Exhibition Panels
Open Monday to Friday, 10.00am - 4.00pm
On display until the end of the 2026 - free to visit
Visitors are welcome to explore three specially created exhibition panels in the historic Earl Marshal's Court. A member of staff will be available at the reception desk to provide information and assistance.
Don't miss this opportunity to discover a different side of Sir John Vanbrugh's remarkable career. Displayed alongside Jonathan Richardson's portrait of Vanbrugh, in a room that remains largely unchanged since his lifetime, the panels explore his work as a herald and his role as Clarenceux King of Arms.
The exhibition also introduces the history and work of the College of Arms and examines the influence of heraldry on Vanbrugh's architectural designs, revealing how his official duties and creative vision were closely connected.
