Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter focuses on Stowe House, the final Vanbrugh300 partner house of the year, exploring Sir John Vanbrugh’s alterations and additions through an article by architect Francis Terry and his forthcoming lecture on the architect’s lost vision for the house. It highlights the new Vanbrugh300 Garden Trail at Stowe, alongside Michael Bevington’s forthcoming lecture on Vanbrugh and the making of the estate. The newsletter also looks ahead to Vanbrugh300 at The Georgian Group’s headquarters at 6 Fitzroy Square as part of Open House London, and invites readers to take part in the Responses to Vanbrugh and Hats Off to Vanbrugh! competitions.
