Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
VANBRUGH300 Weekend in London
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter celebrates a special Vanbrugh300 Weekend in London, inviting readers to visit 6 Fitzroy Square for Open House London with talks, tours and the Vanbrugh: Rockstar of the English Baroque display, before continuing the celebrations at the National Portrait Gallery with an event exploring Vanbrugh’s life, portraits and correspondence. It features Francis Terry’s article on Vanbrugh’s relationship with Nicholas Hawksmoor and promotes his upcoming lecture at Stowe House. The newsletter also highlights a new Open City podcast on Vanbrugh Castle in Greenwich, recommends three London sites to explore as part of Beyond the Partner Houses, and showcases a new exhibition at the College of Arms on Vanbrugh’s work as a herald. Finally, it encourages readers to enter the Responses to Vanbrugh and Hats Off to Vanbrugh! competitions before the deadlines and shares upcoming Vanbrugh300 events throughout October.
