Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter celebrates the programme in full swing, featuring a new short film exploring Sir John Vanbrugh's life and legacy, alongside James Peill's article on Vanbrugh's role as a herald and its influence on his architecture. It reflects on recent Vanbrugh300 events at Grimsthorpe Castle, including lectures, family activities, and theatrical performances, while highlighting forthcoming exhibitions, lectures, tours, and special events at Kimbolton Castle and Stowe House. The newsletter also looks ahead to the continuing nationwide programme of talks, exhibitions, and celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of Vanbrugh's legacy.
