Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
Vanbrugh: Rockstar of the English Baroque
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter focuses on Vanbrugh: Rockstar of the English Baroque, a major exhibition running across several historic houses, which brings fresh insight into the life and work of Sir John Vanbrugh as architect, playwright, and cultural figure. The displays explore his architectural achievements alongside the influential patrons and networks - particularly the Kit-Cat Club - that shaped his career and commissions.
Alongside the exhibition, the newsletter highlights the Vanbrugh300 schools programme, which will engage over 2,000 primary school pupils through site visits, workshops, and free digital resources, helping to inspire the next generation through architecture and creativity. It also looks ahead to upcoming events, including the Vanbrugh300 weekend at Blenheim Palace, featuring storytelling, hands-on workshops, and family-friendly activities, as well as a wider programme of talks, lectures, and exhibitions continuing the anniversary celebrations.
