Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter highlights upcoming events and new resources celebrating the life and legacy of Sir John Vanbrugh. A key focus is the upcoming VANBRUGH300 Weekend at Castle Howard, featuring family activities, interactive experiences, and a new exhibition exploring Vanbrugh’s architectural vision.
The newsletter also features an article on the restoration of The New Tapestry Drawing Room at Castle Howard, alongside newly released recordings from the Vanbrugh: From Stage to Stone symposium. It reflects on the successful launch of the Free Lecture Series at Blenheim Palace and highlights a recent feature on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row.
