The Provoked Wife by John Vanbrugh
John Vanbrugh's The Provoked Wife is one of the greatest English comedies about a marriage in crisis. It maps the quarrels and confrontations of its husband and wife with a distinctive and entertaining wit, and pursues their story to an unexpected conclusion. This film was made at the opening performance of a production of the play, directed by Professor Michael Cordner and Dr Tom Cantrell, in June 2014, on the main stage of the Department of Theatre, Film and Television, University of York.
