Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
This VANBRUGH300 newsletter highlights the forthcoming Vanbrugh300 Weekend at Stowe House, featuring guided tours, family workshops, garden trails and special anniversary entry. It explores the relationship between Sir John Vanbrugh and Thomas Archer in a feature by Dr Helen Lawrence-Beaton, celebrates the success of the nationwide Vanbrugh300 schools programme and free educational resources, and reflects on the recent Durham University conference examining Vanbrugh's legacy in North East England. The newsletter also looks ahead to forthcoming talks, heritage events and celebrations across the nationwide programme marking the 300th anniversary of Vanbrugh's legacy.
