Vanbrugh: From Stage to Stone - an academic symposium held in partnership with the Georgian Group and the Ax:son Johnson Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture - took place at Downing College, Cambridge on 27 March. This multidisciplinary academic conference explored the impact and enduring legacy of Sir John Vanbrugh, marking 300 years since his death in March 1726, and formed part of the Vanbrugh300 festival.

The symposium offered fresh insights into all aspects of Vanbrugh’s life and work, and the reasons his work continues to be celebrated in this tercentenary year. We are pleased that a recording of the symposium is now available for those wishing to view - or review - the day’s lively programme of papers and panel discussions. This can be watched here or on the Georgian Group's Youtube channel. The Georgian Group would like to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund for facilitating the filming of this conference.
