Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
Vanbrugh300 Festival in the National Press
Over the weekend, the Vanbrugh300 festival was featured in The Times, The Spectator, and The Arts Society Magazine.
Laura Freeman’s feature in The Times explores the scandalous and brilliant mind behind some of Britain’s finest country houses, highlighting the Georgian Group’s nationwide celebrations and shining a spotlight on each of the partner houses.
In The Spectator, Jonathan Meades reflects on the genius of John Vanbrugh and discusses Charles Saumarez-Smith’s recent book, Vanbrugh: The Drama of Architecture.
Meanwhile, Rory Fraser’s five-page feature in The Arts Society magazine charts Vanbrugh’s remarkable life and works as this year-long festival gets underway.
The Vanbrugh300 festival was made possible following a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The programme includes exhibitions and special displays, a series of free public lectures, education initiatives reaching 2,000 primary school children, and dedicated Vanbrugh300 Weekends at each site throughout 2026.
