Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
WELCOME TO VANBRUGH300
Celebrating Sir John Vanbrugh, 300 Years On
This first Vanbrugh300 newsletter launches the tercentenary celebrations of Sir John Vanbrugh, highlighting his multifaceted life, from soldier and playwright to pioneering English Baroque architect, and setting out the aims of the National Lottery Heritage Fund–supported festival delivered by the Georgian Group. It introduces the six key Vanbrugh houses involved, outlines plans for exhibitions, lectures, and community events, and emphasises a strong educational focus, including free school engagement opportunities. The newsletter also shares key upcoming dates and invites readers to explore the full programme and follow the year-long celebration of Vanbrugh’s enduring legacy.
