Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Vanbrugh 300 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to develop a nationwide project that aims to broaden the awareness of Vanbrugh through special displays, free education programmes and lectures, throughout his tercentenary year in 2026.
Kimbolton Castle Vanbrugh300 Weekend
4th October 2026
Discover the history and grandeur of Kimbolton Castle on one of just two days a year when it is open to the public. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the impressive state rooms, including the Queen’s Room, where Katherine of Aragon died in 1536.
This rare opportunity also allows visitors to explore one of Sir John Vanbrugh’s lesser-known architectural masterpieces. The day is complemented by a special exhibition examining the connection between Vanbrugh and Charles Montagu, 4th Earl of Manchester, offering fresh insight into the castle’s design and history.
